Stacked discounts are applied in sequence, not added together.

For example 10% + 40% does not equal 50%. They apply one after the other: 1,000,000 × 0.9 × 0.6 = 540,000 — a 46% discount. A deep deal of 50% applies straight to the base: 500,000, a true 50%. OTAs always show the guest the lowest of these.

After discounting that far you still pay OTA commission — what you actually keep is far below the base rate. That is why it pays to move guests to direct booking.
